THIMPHU, August 11, 2025 – A historic milestone was marked yesterday as 182 graduates of the Royal Institute of Management (RIM) received their awards during the 27th Convocation Ceremony, graced by Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay. The graduating cohort of 2023–2025 reflects RIM’s continued commitment to excellence in management education.
The graduates included 82 Master of Business Administration (MBA) recipients, 20 with a Graduate Diploma in Accounting (GDA), 33 diploma holders in Financial Management (DFM), 19 with a Diploma in Information Technology (DIT), and 28 with a Certificate in Accounting (CIA).
Since the signing of Memoranda of Agreement with the University of Canberra (UC), Australia, in 2007 and 2011, RIM has been delivering quality management education through collaborative programmes. Over the past 13 to 14 years, more than 840 students have enrolled in these programmes, with 656 earning their master’s degrees, including 533 MBA graduates.
In his keynote address, Lyonchhen emphasized the importance of integrity, wisdom, and a lifelong learning mindset as graduates step forward to serve the Tsa-Wa-Sum. He urged them to combine effort, endurance, and dedication to realise their aspirations and career goals.
The Prime Minister said that Bhutan’s greatest asset is its people, whose values, capabilities, and dedication shape the nation’s future. He congratulated the graduates for their perseverance in overcoming challenges to reach this milestone, urging them to reflect on the lessons learned, define their ambitions, and determine how best to apply their skills to achieve them, never losing sight of their goals.
Lyonchhen also highlighted the importance of the Gelephu Mindfulness City, the Diamond Strategy, and the concept of an enlightened, entrepreneurial bureaucracy for Bhutan’s development. Graduates, he reminded, must keep these priorities in mind and maintain unwavering focus.
Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business, Government and Law at UC, Prof. Uwe Dulleck, encouraged the graduates to lead with innovation and adopt a global perspective in their service to Bhutan and beyond.
